Montana’s seven Republican candidates for governor each vowed last week to loosen regulations on mining. The candidates agreed that the state’s economy has suffered as a result of excessive regulations on natural resource development.
“It takes twice as long to permit anything in Montana. Delays often push projects outside the window of business opportunity that exists,” said candidate Rick Hill, a former Montana congressman.
