Thousands of new American jobs are on the table as the Southeast Arizona Land Exchange and Conservation Act of 2011 is scheduled for a floor vote in the House this afternoon. If passed, the bill would green light construction of an Arizona mine at the site of the third largest undeveloped copper resource in the world. The Arizona Republic reports that the project is expected to create 3,000 jobs during mine construction, 1,400 jobs when the mine is at full production and 2,300 additional jobs in the region generated by mining needs and worker spending.
