In an op-ed in The Hill, Nevada Congressman Mark Amodei spoke out against the proposed mining “dirt tax,” pointing toward the town of Yerington—with the state’s highest unemployment rate at 16.1 percent—as an example of a community that would be hard-hit by tax increases, writing, “the administration estimates this would take at least $1.8 billion annually from communities like Yerington.”
Rep. Amodei also plans to introduce legislation to expedite the transfer of federal lands to local control for economic development—helping to expand energy production and create jobs in the state.
